About the Forgotten Children campaign
Throughout the developing world, children with disabilities are being excluded from taking part in every day activities within their communities and sometimes within their own families too.
CBM UK launched the Forgotten Children campaign in 2005 to help offer treatment and rehabilitation programmes so that these children can be included and participate fully in their society. CBM works with local partners through more than a 1,000 projects to treat, rehabilitate and build a lasting legacy for communities in more than 110 countries.
Behind Closed Doors
There are huge stigmas in some cultures towards people who have a disability and as a result of 'shame', many children are kept quite literally behind closed doors - unable to play with their brothers and sisters; unable to go to school; and unable to receive treatment.
