CBM have joined the Give A Car scheme - a social enterprise that raises money for charities by accepting donations of unwanted cars.
If you have an unwanted car taking up space in your garage, GiveACar will tow it away, dispose of it and will donate the profits to CBM at no cost to you.
Depending on the condition of your vehicle it is either disposed of in an environmentally friendly way or sold through auction.
GiveACar will collect any make of vehicle, anywhere in the UK.
A scrap car can raise an average of £100 - enough to save the sight of two adults. Better condition cars can raise a minimum of £200 and good condition cars can raise thousands through auction.
Think of how many life-changing opportunities you could give, just by making one phone call?
For more information about how to Give A Car, please contact Clare Rice on 01223 484700 or gifts@cbmuk.org.uk. Alternatively visit the GiveACar website or give them a call directly on 020 0011 1664.
If you are clearing your house and have bulky items to dispose of, Giveacar now also accept items such as flat screen televisions, Mobility scooters, Ride-on lawnmowers, Tumble dryers, Mountain bikes, Computers; provided the item is in working order.
Giveacar have access to a great network of people who are willing to bid on a variety of objects, so if your item has value, then Giveacar can raise a donation. If it has no auction value, then it must have a high metal content so they can generate a scrap value. If it fails at auction and has no scrap value then no donation will be generated.
If you have an item that you would like to donate, then please contact Giveacar directly on 020 0011 1664 and quote ‘CBM UK’ as the beneficiary. They will then arrange for your item(s) to be picked up, at no cost to you and sold at the best possible price. The income raised will go towards our work supporting people with disability around the world.
I am partially sighted myself, but I have access to doctors, opticians, ophthalmologists. No one is more conscious of the precious gift of sight, so when I wanted to get rid of my old Nissan, I donated it to CBM; and to my great joy, they are able to restore sight to a blind boy with bilateral cataracts. I only wish I had some more old cars!" - A generous CBM supporter
