Alice wears a cream floral shirt and kisses her grandaughter Nkirote, wearing a grey knit jumper, on the cheek, as the little girl smiles at the camera. The background has green plants and wooden posts.

Other ways to give

Give in memory of a loved one

A gift in memory of a loved one is a wonderful tribute to their life and will transform the lives of people with disability in the poorest places of the world.

We have teamed up with “Much Loved” to enable you to create your own free online tributes. An online tribute fund is a wonderful way for you to share memories. You can upload pictures and write journal entries in remembrance; friends and family can sign the visitors' book, leave messages or light a candle in remembrance or to mark a special day.

For more information about how to leave a gift in memory of a loved one, please contact us or phone 01223 484700.

GiveACar – change lives with your scrap car

If you have an unwanted car taking up space in your garage, GiveACar will tow it away, dispose of it and will donate the profits to CBM at no cost to you. GiveACar will collect any make of vehicle, anywhere in the UK.

Depending on the condition of your vehicle it is either disposed of in an environmentally friendly way or sold through auction.

A scrap car can raise an average of £100 - enough to restore sight to 4 adults who are needlessly blind. Better condition cars can raise a minimum of £200 and good condition cars can raise thousands through auction.

Think of how many life-changing opportunities you could give, just by making one phone call?

Gifts of shares

Donating your shares to CBM is a great way to help people living with disability and also one of the most tax-effective ways you can give. You won't have to pay any capital gains tax on the shares you donate and you can claim income tax relief too.

For example:

If you are a basic taxpayer (20%) and you donate shares worth £500 you will be able to claim income tax relief of £100; this means that your donation to CBM has cost you only £400. CBM still receives a gift of £500.

If you are a higher rate tax payer (40%) you will be able to claim income tax relief of £200, although CBM still receives a gift of £500.

The examples given above are for illustrative purposes only. You should consider taking professional advice to ensure that your gift to CBM is structured in the most efficient manner.

For gifts of shares up to £500, you can use the share donation charity Sharegift, who make it easy to give shares and donate the proceeds to CBM.

For more information about donating shares, please contact our Supporter Relations Team or phone 01223 484700.
