Your gift of a lifetime

For many of us, leaving a legacy is the greatest and most wonderful gift we can give in our whole lives - a gift that may not have been possible to provide during our lifetime. The continued success of CBM is a lasting testament to former generations who have provided a positive future for thousands of disadvantaged persons worldwide.

Legacies and gifts in memoriam can provide a lasting freedom from hardship and disability for countless individuals. CBM legacy bequests have reached out to help the neediest of communities in a variety of ways.

I plan to give to CBM, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of my estate after I have died. I can't think of a more worthy cause. You are not only helping people physically, you are also giving them God's love - that's the most important thing!

Miss H Allison, CBM supporter.

We recently received a bequest from one supporter who instructed that her gift should be used "for the benefit of children". CBM required funding for a hospital in Nigeria that was in desperate need of a new children's ward to provide eye care for the community.

Without this gift, the new children's ward would not have been possible to build in such a short time. The ward, named after its donor, was in use from the day it opened and the supporter's family attended the opening ceremony speaking to many of the patients receiving treatment - there is no doubt in their minds that this gift has transformed the lives of many and continues to do so on a daily basis.

By choosing to make a bequest to CBM in your Will, you are not only providing care and support for some of the poorest people in the world, but you will also enable future generations to grow - to support their own families and the communities around them.

Will my gift really make a difference?

CBM and the people we help across the world rely on your support to be able to create a sustainable future. No gift is insignificant, whatever its financial value. Cataract surgery is just one of the life-changing treatments we offer and costs only £20 per adult. Training an eye surgeon to work in their local community costs as little as £150. To be able to leave the gift of sight as your legacy is fully within your power.

If you have already written your Will and wish to leave a legacy bequest to CBM, you can download and complete the fully legal codicil form and send it to your solicitor to keep alongside your original Will

If you have not yet written a Will, it is easier and less time-consuming than you think. CBM strongly advises you to use a qualified solicitor who can explain, in detail, the different types of legacy gift you can leave and their benefits, such as a reduction of Inheritance Tax on the value of your estate.

Web Pledge

CBM understands that writing a Will is a very personal experience and that family and loved ones are a priority. Once you have made provision for those you love and care for, we hope that you will consider leaving a legacy to CBM to continue our work.

Naturally, any decision to notify CBM if you choose to make a bequest is entirely up to you, but we are particularly grateful to supporters when we are notified, as we can express gratitude during their lifetime and consider any specific wishes they may have for the legacy bequest.
