Scotland plays host to 'the World's biggest tea party since Boston' to mark World Sight Day 2009.

Country Manager - David Christison, will be encouraging supporters across Scotland to invite their friends and neighbours in for the perfect cup of tea - all in aid of World Sight Day.

Once again, the Co-op in Scotland is kindly donating starter packs of Fairtrade tea, which event organisers will be able to use to make that perfect cuppa, whilst raising money and awareness at the same time.

Did you know that women and girls make up nearly two thirds of the population of people who are blind?

About World Sight Day

World Sight Day is an international awareness day, organised by the Vision 2020: Right to Sight initiative. This year the theme of 'Gender and Eye Health - equal access to care' will be marked on October 8th. It aims to highlight the need for greater access to sight-saving health care for women and girls, who often miss out.

The Vision 2020 initiative was formed in collaboration of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), together with leading eye care organisations - including CBM.
