The Bishop of Huntingdon, Dr David Thomson has chosen CBM UK as a benefactor of his 2010 Lent Appeal.

Diocese of Ely crest

Local parishes in the Diocese of Ely are being asked to make a special effort to fundraise for two international charities during the coming Lent season - one of which is CBM UK.

Each year the Diocese of Ely calls on local congregations across Cambridgeshire and West Norfolk to give generously during Lent to support charity work worldwide. This year the Appeal will support CBM's work with disabled people in the developing world.

CBM will receive 75% of the proceeds from the Bishop's Lent Appeal.

CBM in Haiti

Both our Emergency Coordinator and the Regional Director for South and Central America arrived in Haiti just days after the earthquake to work with our local partners to assess the immediate and long term needs of people with disabilities.

CBM International has been working in Haiti since 1976 and has seven projects in the country, two of these are supported by CBM UK.

Dr David Thomson, will launch his Appeal during a short act of worship in the Lady Chapel in Ely Cathedral at 10am on 17 February, which is open to the general public.
