Back in 1958, a young couple began their life together as husband and wife after meeting in the romantic backdrop of a seafront rose garden.
Fifty years later and the couple, Cath and Terry Giles from Nottinghamshire, are celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary but unlike most couples who may receive gifts from friends and family, the couple asked them to make donations to CBM instead.
The Gift of Sight
Through the generosity of Cath and Terry's friends and family, they raised £310.00 for CBM which they have asked us to use to provide cataract operations. Their £310 will pay for 15 people with cataracts to have their sight restored in a simple 15 minute operation.
Talking about their motivation, Mrs. Giles told us "Our sight is such a precious thing - it is so nice to know that 15 people in the developing world will be able to see properly again".
To add to the celebrations, the golden couple wrote 'Our Golden Day', a poem to celebrate their anniversary.
