Four year old Sadday lives in Arequipa, Peru, where premature babies may develop ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity).
Retinopathy of Prematurity is a condition whereby infants born before reaching full term may have disorganised blood vessels in their eyes, a condition which can worsen if they are given oxygen.
Sadday was disagnosed with ROP at 1 year and a half old, but in Arequipa they could not treat it. Thankfully, CBM helped to fund three operations on the ROP affecting both of Sadday's eyes. It is thanks to those vital operations that Sadday can now look forward to seeing clearly with glasses.
Sadday is now four years old, and receives follow up appointments every year. She is attending school, and has grown to become an interested and active girl among her classmates.![]()
