Founded with CBM in 1994, the Comprehensive Community-based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) project serves around 3 million people around its base in Dar es Salaam, and millions more from the surrounding regions.

CCBRT's disability hospital includes an eye department and a rehabilitation department which provide essential services to those who need eye care, or surgery and rehabilitation for clubfoot, vesicovaginal fistula (VVF), burn contractures, cleft lip and palate, and other orthopaedic conditions.
Patient treatment, care and follow-up are key elements of CCBRT's work, but there is also a Training Unit on site. CCBRT runs an extensive training schedule for doctors and nurses from within Tanzania, and for doctors from other developing countries.
The Eye Department currently has 4 eye surgeons and doctors. In 2009, over 8,000 sight-restoring operations were performed.
CCBRT also runs outreach campaigns to identify and refer those who would otherwise not have access to the treatment they need.
