A provider of comprehensive rehabilitation for people with disabilities in South West Zimbabwe.
The Jairos Jiri Vocational Training Centre is located at Mzilikazi, a suburb of Bulawayo - the second largest city in Zimbabwe.
The centre was founded in 1950 and is run by Jairos Jiri, a local non-governmental organisation. It caters for the needs of people with various disabilities across the entire country.
It provides a range of two-year vocational training programmes that are supported by the Zimbabwean government including carpentry, joinery, clothing technology and secretarial skills.
It also offers other courses in a wide range of areas including business studies, Braille, basket making, metal and leather craft.
The Centre has developed activities that help raise local income. These include agriculture (maize and vegetable production), egg production businesses, coffin making, and the 'Viking' project which sees people with disabilities working at a local plastic bottle production factory.
