The Blind People's Association (BPA) provides comprehensive rehabilitation to people with disabilities through education, training, employment and community-based rehabilitation.
The project was started by a group of blind people in 1954 and has since grown into a large comprehensive agency providing a wide range of services. These include prevention, education, counselling, rehabilitation, advocacy and employment.
The project also has a Deaf-Blind Unit and a Low Vision Centre which has received government recognition.
BPA have received numerous awards for their work including a National Award for Outstanding Performance in the field of employment of people with disabilities in December 2008.
The project is one of the fore-runners in the implementation of inclusive approaches in the region.
