The CHEF programme delivers high-quality essential eye care services to some of the poorest parts of Pakistan. It achieves this through its eye care centres and outreach screening campaigns to schools and homes. Once identified for treatment, patients are then referred to the nearest hospital for treatment.

The programme is very active in correcting refractive error - a major cause of avoidable blindness, and successfully distributes glasses to those who need them.

The programme also provides education and consultations to communities in order to prevent avoidable blindness.

In 2010, the CHEF programme was seriously affected by severe flooding during which they lost a member of staff. The programme has been working to provide emergency relief in the areas affected by the floodwater.
