CBM partners since 1989, Negros Occidental Rehabilitation Foundation Inc (NORFI) runs regular training sessions for parents of children with cerebral palsy. This enables families to actively and regularly participate in the provision of treatment - as cost and distance are factors that combine to make it difficult to seek professional help.
The project's physiotherapists also provide essential rehabilitation to people who have experienced strokes, helping patients to carry out simple routine therapeutic exercises.
Although NORFI's core work involves those with physical impairments, it also works with people with visual, hearing and mental health problems, helping approximately 20,000 people annually.
NORFI is recognised by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a 'collaborating centre' - meaning that its levels of expertise and experience entitle it to act as advisers to the WHO when required.
