Operational Research

CBM UK funds a unit within the Progamme Development Department based at our International Office in Bensheim, Germany. The unit works on developing and coordinating a strategic approach to research relevant to CBM’s areas of work.

CBM supports a variety of research initiatives and with a more strategic research approach it is expected to increase evidence for practice and hence the quality of our work. This applies both in the field of operational research as well as for organisational, procedural and partnership learning processes (action research).

Research, providing validated evidence and knowledge, is essential to underpin CBM’s strategies and approaches for planning, implementation and monitoring of programmes as well as for assessing the effectiveness and impact of our work.

Furthermore, “good practices” that emerge from research outcomes will be used for capacity development (learning’s, trainings, etc.), advocacy activities, fundraising and PR communications.
