Mike Davies OBE

Mike Davies is Head of Programme Development for CBM UK.

Born in Stockport, he moved to Africa at the age of eight, and grew up in Bulawayo, in Zimbabwe. Before joining CBM UK. Mike was CBM's Regional Director for South-East Asia and Pacific, based in Manila, a post he held for thirteen years.

Before joining CBM, he was Chief Technical Adviser for the International Labour Organization (ILO), working on livelihood programmes for persons with disabilities in Indonesia, Lesotho and Iran.

Prior to this Mike was Director of Rehabilitation Services in Zimbabwe, responsible for the rehabilitation and reintegration of war-disabled persons. During this time he drafted, and saw through parliament, the War Victims Compensation Act.

For many years, Mike coordinated CBM's advisory group on community-based rehabilitation (CBR), and spearheaded CBM's move into community mental health work. In 1984 he received the Henry Kessler Prize from Rehabilitation International for his work with people with disabilities in Africa, and was awarded the OBE in 2006.

Mike is married to artist and poet Liz Davies, and has three adult children and one grandchild.
