Project #: 1921

CBM, along with its partner - the Diocese de Parakou, run a very efficient eye department in Parakou, Benin.
Parakou is strategically located at the centre of the country and offers services to a population of 103,000 people in the under-served middle and northern areas of the country.
Before this eye department was established, there were little ophthalmic services available and therefore the department now plays a vital role in the eye care of the local population.
CBM has recently completed the construction of a new eye unit in Parakou, building on previous activities in the area. The old facilities were no longer adequate as space was limited and there was no room to further develop the eye work on the site. The construction of the new unit has enabled activities to expand, enabling more patients to be seen and more operations to be performed.
Outreach
This project also undertakes outreach activities to distance towns in Northern Benin as well as Southern Burkina Faso and Southern Niger with the aim of making quality eye surgery affordable and accessible to the poor population.
CBM is grateful for all donations made towards its projects. If you feel that you can help make a difference, you can find out about the different ways that you can make a secure donation.
