Earthquake Update

This partner project has sustained severe damage during the Haiti Earthquake. The school struture is very unsafe and will have to be completely demolished.

One staff member, who was at home when the earthquake struck, has lost both of her legs.

The other staff members desperately want to get back to work to help people with disabilities and so they will be involved in Day Care Centers that CBM is setting up for injured and disabled children.

If you are able to support our work, please DONATE NOW.

Before the earthquake

The Centre d'Education Special (Centre for Special Education) runs a programme for early detection, intervention and care for children with intellectual disabilities, with parental involvement.

The project has several pre-vocational workshops (ceramics, knit-ware etc) and an integration program for children from rural and slum areas.

Our partner also trains teachers from regular schools and runs a community based rehabilitation (CBR) programme extending in to other parts of the country.

With your help 1,034 children were served in the programmes, 113 children in the school and 101 people served in the CBR programme in 2008.
