CSI Redfern Memorial Hospital - Eye Services
Project Partner: Church of South India, Karnataka
Project Number: 800
CSI Redfern Hospital was founded in 1906 and is a 150 bed general hospital belonging to the Church of South India.
In 1996, CBM supported the construction of a new 48 bed eye hospital to help modernize the eye department. The department caters largely for the population in the Hassan District of Karnataka and covers a population of around 17 million.
As well as clinical sessions in the hospital, outreach is held in the surrounding areas. With the help of the local women's groups, awareness raising campaigns about blindness have been held to educate people about preventable blindness.
