Broader Horizons Institute

Project Number: P499

The Institute is run by a local non-governmental agency with significant support from the government.

The day care centre for intellectually challenged children is located at Nile region and Atbara town, some 340Km north of Khartoum (Sudan's capital). It caters for training children in activities for daily living, social and other basic skills as well as primary level education.

The centre trains attendees in poultry keeping, gardening, wood and metalwork, as well as sewing and embroidery - enabling the children to produce local marketable products that in turn can generate income.

It is the only day care centre in the region that prepares children with intellectual challenges, for integrated living. Therefore there is a great need for funding. In particular for:

Physiotherapy Clinic (twice a year): £760
Salary support: £7,600.00
