Projects in Asia and the Pacific

CBM UK currently funds 23 projects in the following countries of the Asia and Pacific region:

About our work in Asia and the Pacific

CBM UK supported fields of work include medical services, education, and rehabilitation for people with disabilities. Wherever possible it is the aim to provide these services within the communities. Therefore, Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) programmes are provided.

CBM and the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami

CBM was well established in most of the countries that were affected by the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami long before it struck, and was therefore able to start working with people with disabilities almost immediately.

The impact of this disaster will last for many decades and therefore CBM is committed to the long term provision of treatment and rehabilitation.

CBM was also on the ground during the flooding in Nepal and India in 2008, and during the typhoons in The Philippines in 2009.

Due to their frequency, CBM UK is supporting local partner initiatives to help prepare for future natural disasters in the vast Asia and Pacific region.
