Emergency coronavirus response to protect the world’s most vulnerable people
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has been spreading rapidly and has now affected more than 215 countries; claiming hundreds of thousands of lives. When crises strike, people with disabilities are at greatest risk – wherever you live in the world.
Our partner hospitals are trying desperately to protect both health workers and patients, but many lack the basic essentials like personal protective equipment, hand sanitiser or face masks.
At times of crisis, people living in poverty with disabilities are often among the worst affected and the last to receive help. They may not hear about how to protect themselves or be able to reach help should they become infected with the virus. They may struggle to access essentials like clean water and soap, or be unable to afford to stock up on food in lock-down.
Your support is needed now more than ever.
Donate today to deliver life-saving supplies in response to coronavirus.

We are doing everything we can to respond as effectively and quickly as possible, but we need your help.
We’re urgently adapting our healthcare and community programmes and our Emergency Response team is providing vital expertise so that people with disabilities can access help.

Chimi, Nurse from a CBM-supported health centre in Cameroon, Central Africa
"We nurses are at the war front, but have no weapons to defend ourselves… We have no Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), no space allocated for COVID-19 cases, no ambulance, no ventilators and limited oxygen tanks… I fear disaster in the days ahead. I fear many nurses may die of COVID 19 and I fear exposing my immediate family members. But I love to take care of the sick and I am motivated by my patients’ recovery"
How your donation can help
Your gift could help to:
- Ensure vital health messages about how to stay safe are accessible to all, including people with disabilities.
- Ensure people with disabilities are not forgotten by keeping access to food and vital supplies open during times of lockdown.
- Protect health and community outreach workers at our partner hospitals by ensuring they have face masks, soap and hand sanitiser.
- Support people’s mental health and well-being through this time of crisis.
Please, donate to help people living with disability in the world’s poorest places.
