Emergency Coronavirus response to protect the world’s most vulnerable people

Emergency Coronavirus response to protect the world’s most vulnerable people

In countries like Nepal and Indonesia, the Coronavirus crisis is far from over.

Devastating waves of the Delta variant are overwhelming fragile health services. Already among the poorest in their communities, the global pandemic has been – and continues to be – an absolute catastrophe for people with disabilities and their families.

Weeks of strict lockdown measures left families unable to work, with no source of income or way to buy food. Governments have provided some support – but often emergency distribution of food and other essentials is simply not accessible to people with disabilities.

People who already experience stigma, neglect and isolation are being overlooked in the middle of this crisis.

Will you help vulnerable families in the world’s poorest places survive this crisis?

How your donation can help

Your gift could:

  • Deliver emergency food packs and other essentials to families who have lost their income and are facing hunger.
  • Provide vital hygiene and medical equipment for people with disabilities, including soap, sanitiser, catheter bags and sanitary pads.
  • Support local health workers, who have been on the frontline of the pandemic.
  • Support people’s mental health and well-being through this time of crisis.
Sanjay Chaudhary - COVID-19 Response Nepal

Sanjay Chaudhary, Nepal

"It is getting very difficult now. We used to survive through our shop but we have no money left now…

My wife Rupa also has a disability. She cannot move one leg from the waist down. She also needs medicines regularly for arthritis and blood pressure but it’s been about 20 days that she stopped taking medicines… We don’t have any money; how can we afford the medicine?"

We are doing everything we can to respond as effectively and quickly as possible, but we need your help.

Thanks to your generous response to our Coronavirus appeal last year, our team and partners in worked tirelessly to deliver vital support to protect families during 2020. But vulnerable families urgently need your help again.

Because we work with local disability organisations and hospitals – many of them long-term CBM partners - who know their communities well, you can be sure that your donations will go straight to the families who most need your help.

Please, donate to help people living with disability in the world’s poorest places.
