Christian leaders endorse Christian Blind Mission Sunday and new free resources available

CBM is inviting churches to take part in Christian Blind Mission Sunday on 14th October 2018, helping prevent childhood blindness and restore sight in the world’s poorest places.

Christian Blind Mission Sunday is an uplifting new addition to the Church calendar. Launched last year to link with World Sight Day, it’s already inspiring a growing number of churches to learn, pray and raise funds to give the precious gift of sight to children in the world’s poorest places.

We have launched a range of easy to use and inspiring resources, available free of charge, to help churches plan activities for Christian Blind Mission Sunday and hold a collection or fundraise to support CBM’s work. The resources include:

  • Prayer and worship resources
  • Sermon ideas
  • Leaflets and posters
  • Children’s activities

“It’s shocking to think that children are losing their sight just because they are poor. That’s why I’ll be supporting Christian Blind Mission Sunday on 14th October, helping CBM fund sight-saving operations and treatments in the world’s poorest places, so together we can build a world where no child is needlessly blind”.

“Every child and young person should be able to fulfil their potential and become the person they were created to be. So it’s deeply troubling that many children who are blind or living with other types of disability don’t get the support they need to learn, grow and thrive, particularly if they live in poverty. CBM is doing valuable work in the world’s poorest places to prevent children from needlessly losing their sight and build a fairer world for those with disabilities – but they need our prayers and support. So I’d urge all churches and individuals to join in with Christian Blind Mission Sunday this October – whether you organise a bake sale, hold a collection, show a video or pray for their work, you’ll be helping children see a brighter future in some of the world’s poorest places.”

“I’ve been a fan of CBM’s work for a very long time. Their hands on work embodies the message of the social gospel; vital, life giving and joyous. You don’t just need eyes to see… you need vision! I encourage all churches to join in celebrating Christian Blind Mission Sunday… Let There Be Light!”
