In Peru, almost a quarter of the population is defined as being in poverty; with 4.9% of people living in extreme poverty.

Cataract is the leading cause of blindness in Peru affecting more than 58% of the population and while treatment is available, people living in poverty simply cannot afford it.

We are working to reduce preventable blindness in Peru through community outreach and surgery.
