Looking to make a difference and have fun while doing it?

Fundraising for CBM UK is a powerful way to support life-changing work – and it’s easier than you think. Whether you’re fundraising solo, with friends, or at work, here are 10 fun and effective ideas to get you started.

1. Host a sponsored challenge

Walk, run, cycle, swim – or even stay silent! Pick a challenge, set a goal, and ask friends to sponsor you.

2. Organise a bake sale or coffee morning

Whip up your best treats and invite people to donate for a good cause. Great for schools, churches, or local communities.

3. Virtual quiz night

Test your trivia skills! Set up a quiz over Zoom or Teams, charge an entry fee, and crown a quiz champion.

4. Birthday fundraiser

Instead of gifts, ask friends to donate to CBM UK on your birthday. Set it up via Facebook or JustGiving.

5. Craft sale or art show

Use your creative skills – or those of your community to make and sell artwork or handmade items.

6. Workplace fundraising day

Dress-down days, bake-offs, team challenges, or donation matching – small actions, big impact.

7. Host a dinner or themed night

Invite friends over for a meal, trivia night, or cultural evening – ask for donations in place of a ticket price.

8. Charity raffle or auction

Ask local businesses to donate prizes and host an online or in-person raffle or silent auction.

9. Give something up

Go without coffee, chocolate, or social media for a week or month, and get sponsored to do it.

10. Start a social media challenge

Mark’s fundraising story

Inspired by his own sight-saving cataract surgery, Mark from Norfolk took on a 200-mile cycling challenge to help prevent avoidable blindness in some of the world’s poorest communities. Riding with two friends on the ‘Sea to See’ challenge, he cycled from Portsmouth to the north coast of Norfolk.

“For me, it was so easy, it’s on the NHS and I don’t have to worry, so wouldn’t it be great if I could help a few other people who don’t have a clinic on the doorstep? My surgery has improved my life, and for others in these remote locations, it must be life-changing too.”

Mark raised nearly £5,500, making a huge impact on the lives of people living needlessly blind. You can make a difference too – start your fundraising journey today!

Every pound you raise helps bring lasting change to people living with disabilities in some of the world’s poorest places. Thank you for fundraising for CBM UK!
