Leave no one behind
One in six people live with a disability – that is 1.3 billion people worldwide. This number is estimated to double by 2050 with over 80% living in low- or middle-income countries, often in extreme poverty. As the largest marginalised group in the world, they are also the ones most left behind. At CBM UK, our mission is to see this change.
CBM UK is committed to building a world where all people with disabilities can enjoy their human rights and achieve their full potential. This is why we advocate for the voices of people with disabilities to be heard together with their vision for inclusive development.
As part of the CBM Global Federation and in partnership with the disability movement, we work to influence systemic and sustainable policy change in line with the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 to Leave No One Behind.
Advocating for Lasting Impact
Take a closer look at some of our areas of advocacy work and the change we want to see:
We advocate for inclusive climate change policies that protect people with disabilities who are living in extreme poverty and are among the hardest hit by the climate crisis.
We advocate to shift decision-making power to local partners and for strong representation of people with disabilities to achieve inclusive development policies and practice.
We advocate to end disability stigma, improve access to mental health services, and tackle the exclusion faced by people with mental health conditions.
