This year, four incredible supporters are taking on 26.2 miles for CBM UK in the TCS London Marathon 2026.

They’re running the London Marathon to support men, women and children living with disabilities in some of the world’s poorest communities – helping to fund life-changing surgery, education and a future where people with disabilities can thrive.

Here we introduce each member of Team CBM UK and share why they chose to take on this incredible challenge:

Amelia

Amelia is wearing her London marathon t-shirt. She is training for the London Marathon.

“I have chosen to support CBM UK as I feel that their work links greatly to my own profession [Speech and Language Therapist]. Inclusion and reducing barriers to healthcare and education is hugely important – not just in the UK, but overseas as well. I’m hoping that by partnering with CBM UK, I can help make a difference to others in disadvantaged communities.”

Amelia has already run a marathon … and at the time said “never again!”

“As it’s my second marathon, my main aim is to really enjoy it and soak in the atmosphere.”

Her training has taken her across Herefordshire and neighbouring counties, including an impressive 31km run over the Malvern Hills and back.

And her secret weapon for those long training runs?

Salted roast potatoes!

Arwa

Arwa is running the London marathon.

Arwa is CBM UK’s wonderful Programme Finance Manager.

On race day, Arwa hopes to feel strong, grateful and healthy – finishing the marathon knowing she gave it her all.

“I want to finish feeling proud of the journey that got me there.”

Arwa hopes to raise at least £2,000 to support CBM UK’s work with people with disabilities in the world’s poorest communities.

“This isn’t just a charity I’m supporting. It’s a mission that’s part of my daily work, my heart and my purpose. Every mile I run helps change lives.”

Alex

“As well as CBM UK being a long-standing client of mine at Ebury, I wanted my miles to mean more than just a personal achievement. CBM UK does incredible work reaching people in the world’s poorest places who are often forgotten.”

On race day, Alex hopes to soak up the famous London atmosphere and cross the finish line smiling.

“I want to remember why I’m doing this when I hit the wall at mile 20.”

Together with Ebury teammate Jon, Alex hopes to raise £5,000 for CBM UK.

Training has already included some memorable moments – from tough 6:00 am rainy runs to completing his first 21km half-marathon long run.

And one particularly unusual training experience…

“My funniest moment? Getting chased by a very persistent goose in the local park while trying to keep my pace up!”

Jon

Jon running the London marathon. He is wearing a black running t-shirt.

“CBM is a great cause, and the chance to support their work is too good an opportunity to pass up.”

On race day, he’s aiming to enjoy the experience – while also pushing himself to achieve the fastest time possible.

“I’d love to get as close to 3 hours as possible… knee-dependent!”

Despite a recent pause to rest his knee, Jonathan has already completed an impressive 35km run in 2 hours 30 minutes – showing he’s well on track.

“Right now, it’s about managing the niggle and making sure I get to the start line in the best shape possible.”

Jon, alongside his teammate Alex – both from Ebury – are hoping to raise as much as possible to support CBM UK’s life-changing work.
