Cambridgeshire church supports CBM as charity of the month
We are delighted that Downing Place United Reformed Church in Cambridge selected CBM UK to be their Charity of the Month for January 2022, helping to transform the lives of people with disabilities in the world’s poorest communities.
Throughout January, Downing Place URC have been raising awareness about CBM’s work, displaying posters and leaflets and holding a collection. CBM volunteer Gill Godber spoke at a service on Sunday 23rd January, introducing CBM’s history of putting God’s love into action and mission to reach those who are left behind by others. Gill also shared her experience of witnessing CBM’s work first-hand in Vietnam.
A member of the congregation, Rebekah Greenbank, said:
“Building inclusive communities is a priority for us at Downing Place which is why we’re excited to support CBM as our charity of the month. We know that CBM are working with the global disability movement and local partners to help build more inclusive communities where people with disabilities can access their full human rights. It was a pleasure hearing from Gill about why the work of CBM matters so much to her and how we can get involved in this exciting movement to break the cycle of poverty and disability.”
Hear from Gill in this recording of the service (around 18 mins in):
