Celebrating the life of Chris Ogoshi

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a great friend and colleague, Chris Ogoshi, the Chief Executive at HANDS – CBM UK’s dedicated partner who have been working to help treat and eliminate Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) across Nigeria since 1995.
Chris Ogoshi has been at the forefront of tackling Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) such as blinding trachoma for over 25 years. Thousands of lives across Nigeria have benefited from Chris’ passion, drive and capacity to inspire.
Kirsty Smith, CBM UK’s Chief Executive said:
“Chris’ commitment to addressing Neglected Tropical Diseases and his passion for improving the lives of marginalised community members is truly commendable.”
Chris worked tirelessly for the inclusion of people with disabilities and was proud of his role at HANDS. When we interviewed Chris in 2020, he reflected on his role and said:
“What I like most about my job is to touch the lives of people who are at the end of the road. Those that are voiceless. Those without hope. Those who are living in a difficult to reach area. Those that are frightened. When we are able to provide support, you can see from their faces that they are so happy, that CBM is touching their lives. It gives me the energy to continue. I will stay there as long as there are people in the community in need.”
Chris’ legacy and impact will be remembered and cherished by many.
