CBM announces appointment of new Chief Programme Officer

David Bainbridge has joined CBM International as its Chief Programme Officer (with effect from 01 June 2016). David has over 30 years experience working in programme development with NGOs, most recently as International Director at Tearfund.

Initially based in the UK, David will lead and mentor CBM’s international development directors, cultivate its alliance network, and lead governmental advocacy and public campaign initiatives globally.

“We are excited to have David as part of the CBM team, where he will undoubtedly provide invaluable leadership to our work in programme development and in emergency situations as well as in identifying innovative opportunities on a global scale,” said Max Teare, Chair of CBM International’s Supervisory Board and Trustee of CBM UK.

David began his career in 1983 volunteering as a Community Development Worker with Emmanuel International in rural Jamaica. He then worked with Fellowship for African Relief responding to the food crisis in Sudan in a variety of roles between 1985 and 1988. In 1990, he moved to Emmanuel International Canada as International Programme Coordinator, and in 1994 was promoted to Director of International Operations. In 2000, he became Operations Manager at Tearfund, and in 2005 was promoted to Senior Operations Manager, and then appointed as Disaster Management Director in 2007 and later as International Director in 2010.

He has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Theology and Religious Studies from the University of Manchester and a Master of Arts in Development and Emergency Practice from Oxford Brookes University.
