Register now for learning event on partnerships with organisations of persons with disabilities
On 6th April 2022, CBM UK is hosting a virtual event to launch the findings from new report: “We have a key role now”: Lessons learned from partnerships with organisations of persons with disabilities” (open link in new tab).
This will be an opportunity to hear from our Disability Movement partners and others about effective approaches and challenges in building meaningful and authentic partnerships with organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs). Speakers include Lucy Nkatha from Kiengu Women Challenged to Challenge Kenya, National Union of Disability Organisations in Rwanda (NUDOR), Disability Rights Advocacy Centre in Nigeria (DRAC), Harriet Knowles, Senior Programme Manager in the FCDO Disability Inclusion Team (and lead on OPD consultation for the FCDO Disability Inclusion and Rights strategy) and CBM UK.

The new report shares the outcomes of a listening exercise (open link new tab) with 32 OPD partners in 14 countries which was undertaken as part of CBM UK and CBM Global’s commitment to building authentic partnership with, and accountability to, the Disability Movement. CBM asked for feedback on our approach to partnership and have listened hard to the response!
The report was launched at the recent Global Disability Summit alongside the 23 Commitments that signal the measures that CBM are taking to strengthen its partnerships with Organisations of Persons with Disabilities and engage with the disability movement. Read CBM’s commitments here (open link in new tab). As part of acting on the commitments CBM UK / Global made at the Global Disability Summit to improve our approach to partnership, we’re sharing our lessons learned in shifting power and building better partnerships.
If you or your organisation are interested learning what disability movement partners have to say to INGO’s like CBM, how to work alongside them more effectively, or in shifting power in international development more broadly, registration for the event is open now.
