Devastation in Nepal
The deadly flash flood in Nepal last week is one of the most devastating in the country’s history. The catastrophic event in the Himalayan border region of Nepal and Tibet has now claimed more than 1,000 lives, with over 4,000 people still missing.
Terrifying flood waters filled with muddy sediment swept through families and communities, washing away homes in seconds. With bridges and roads destroyed, reaching people in need is extremely difficult. Meanwhile rising lake waters caused by the build-up of flood debris is increasing the risk of further flooding.

As we pray for the people of Nepal we must also act swiftly to help those we exist to serve – people with disabilities and their families.
Ignored, forgotten or pushed aside, people with disabilities often suffer most in a crisis.
For them it is harder – sometimes impossible – to reach safety, emergency aid, and critical or life-saving assistance.
But CBM has been responding to disasters for decades. As an organisation dedicated to supporting people with disabilities, we know how to reach the people who are too often left behind.
