Idephonse's Story

"I know my daughter was born, but I do not know her face."
Meet Ildephonse, a father from Rwanda who lost his sight to cataracts.
Ildephonse, pictured above, has lived with cataracts in both of his eyes for six years.
Trapped in darkness behind a seemingly immovable barrier, Ildephonse told us, “I spend my whole day here in the house... I don’t see anything, I just sit here all day.”
Cataracts are the world’s leading cause of avoidable blindness. But for families who earn a few pence per day or cannot work due to cataracts, like Ildephonse, the cost is out of reach.
With your support today, we can move closer to a world where no one becomes needlessly blind.
Until 28th April, every £1 you give towards our sight-saving work will be DOUBLED. Please, will you make the most of this opportunity and bring a new dawn of opportunity into people's lives?
For every £1 raised before 28th April, a generous group of CBM supporters will give £1 to fund sight-saving work and other programmes supporting some of the world’s forgotten people living in poverty up to £75,000.
Your donations will support CBM’s work preventing blindness and transforming lives wherever the need is greatest.
