Diane Louise Jordan launches See the Way appeal

Posted on: Thursday, November 19th, 2020

On Friday 13th November, broadcaster Diane Louise Jordan, well-known for presenting iconic TV shows Songs of Praise and Blue Peter, joined us for a special online event to mark the launch of our See the Way appeal.

Over 140 supporters from across the UK tuned in for An Evening with Diane Louise Jordan (open link in new tab), getting See the Way appeal off to an exciting start.

Diane spoke about the personal impact of vision problems on her family, her life-changing journey to see our sight-saving work in Rwanda and why she’s passionate about helping build a world where nobody is needlessly blind.

There was also a screening of “Etienne’s Miracle”, a heart-warming film about a 10 year-old boy who has sight-restoring surgery, made during Diane’s trip to Rwanda in February.

Every day, people in the world’s poorest places become needlessly blind because of conditions that can be easily treated, like cataracts. Many women, men and children in poverty have no access to the most basic of eye health services.

UK Aid logoUntil 17th December, all public donations to our See the Way appeal will be doubled by the UK government, up to £2 million. Your gift could help twice the number of people See the Way to a brighter future – it could fund twice as many sight-saving surgeries, pairs of glasses or eye-health outreach activities in the world’s poorest places.
