Marking World Mental Health Day on 10 October 2024, the International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC) Inclusive Safeguarding Task Group have published a new paper entitled ‘Safeguarding, Mental Health and Psychosocial Disability’.

At CBM we believe that everyone deserves the chance to see the world clearly. Today on World Sight Day, Poonam Shah, Inclusive Eye Health Advisor at CBM Global tells us more about several key eye conditions which CBM is working to diagnose and treat.

The countdown is on to World Sight Day this Thursday, 10th October 2024! This year’s focus is on child eye health, with the goal to encourage and inspire children across the world to look after their eyes. Here are some important tips from our friends at IAPB:

Cellist Joseph Reynolds and pianist James Williams are performing in two concerts in central Cambridge this month to raise awareness of World Sight Day, and raise funds for CBM’s vital sight-saving work. Everyone is welcome to attend these free concerts, with a retiring collection for CBM.

This World Sight Day, CBM UK is helping to focus the world’s attention on the importance of eyecare. The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) organise World Sight Day each year, with IAPB members (like CBM) standing together to raise awareness of the importance of eye healthcare.

Together with our partners, CBM UK is attending the annual Neglected Tropical Diseases NGO (NNN) Conference from 1st – 3rd October 2024, joining delegates from over 50 countries, all working towards a shared vision – a world free of NTDs.

On 20 September, CBM UK along with 70 other international development organisations, faith groups and environmental non-profits called on the prime minister to ramp up the UK’s action on the climate crisis ahead of upcoming climate negotiations at the UN General Assembly.
