Dar es Salaam, Tanzania - 10/6/16 - L-R Yona Sabena, born 2007, and Lucy Matonya, born 2009, wait to have their bandages removed after their cataract surgeries at CCBRT (Project number 1941) in Dar es Salaam on October 6, 2016.

Children in Africa, like Lucy and Yona, are living needlessly blind.

Children like Lucy and Yona should not be blind.

A 45 minute operation can restore sight to a child blinded by cataracts. But for too many families in the world’s poorest places, surgery is out of reach.
We want them to see God’s beautiful world, and to find their place in it.
With this simple act of grace, you could free children like Lucy and Yona from a life of darkness.

Diane Louise Jordan, TV Presenter (Blue Peter, Songs of Praise)

As a mum and a grandmother, I can’t imagine what it’s like to see your child lose their sight. Watching them struggle, knowing that treatment is available – but out of reach. That’s why I am passionate about supporting CBM, because I believe that every child should have the best chance in life - and that nobody should be needlessly blind.”
