Donor Advised Funds

At CBM UK, we’re delighted to accept donations through Donor Advised Funds (DAFs).

Giving this way offers a flexible, tax-efficient way to support CBM UK’s work, transforming the lives of people with disabilities in some of the world’s poorest places.

Would you like to donate through your DAF?

If you would like to support CBM UK’s work and already hold a Donor Advised Fund, please contact your DAF provider and request that they donate to:

Christian Blind Mission (CBM) UK

Registered Charity Number: 1058162

If you would like to discuss how your gift will be used or if you would like it to be put towards a specific project, please call 01223 484724 or ask a representative from your DAF provider to get in touch.

What is a DAF?

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account used solely to support charitable causes. Individuals, families or organisations can contribute cash, shares, or other assets into their DAF account. They can then recommend what grants they would like to give to charities over time.

Reasons to give through a DAF

It’s flexible: You can contribute cash or assets to the DAF. In addition, there are no timescales for making contributions or distributions. Donation size is up to you, as is the number of causes you choose to support and when you choose to make donations.

It’s tax efficient:

  • You can reclaim Gift Aid on eligible cash gifts
  • There is the potential for income and capital gains tax relief
  • Legacy gifts to DAFs are exempt from inheritance tax

Admin is simple: governance, reporting, and compliance are managed by your DAF provider. There are no start-up costs beyond your initial investment.

They can grow in value: Funds within the DAF can be invested, and so the value of your funds may increase. Growth is usually tax-free, meaning even more funds are available, maximising your long-term charitable impact.

It can be anonymous: DAFs make it easy to support your favourite causes while maintaining privacy.

Donating through a DAF enables effective, impactful philanthropy. To understand whether a DAF is right for you, we recommend you contact your financial adviser. They will be able to tell you more and help you to select the right provider.
