The Philippines has one of the fastest growing economies in East Asia and the Pacific region.

Poverty rates have dropped, with the World Bank reporting nearly 2 million Filipinos lifted from poverty in a three-year period since 2012. Further reductions are a key political priority to reduce the still significant numbers of poor among the population of 100.7m people.

Of those living with disabilities in the Philippines, cataracts and uncorrected refractive errors are two of the leading causes of blindness, particularly in rural areas.

CBM has been working with partners in the Philippines for over 30 years, preventing blindness, improving health and helping people with disabilities go to school, earn a living, access health care/rehabilitation and secure respect in their communities.
