Our work in Bangladesh

Bangladesh is one of the world’s most densely populated countries and, although significant progress has been made, there are still problems with access to healthcare, education, and inequality. The country is also vulnerable to disasters and inadequate infrastructure, widespread stigma, and inaccessible information lead to people with disabilities being among the worst affected by the climate crisis.

What we do in Bangladesh

We’ve been working in Bangladesh since 1972. Since then, we’ve been working with government and local organisations to support people with disabilities to enjoy their rights and reach their full potential.

We have also been supporting people with disabilities in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, since 2017. Working alongside local partners, we have been supporting people with disabilities within the refugee camps and host communities to access essential healthcare services and assistive devices, promoting independent living.

With your support, we can continue to reach people with disabilities who are too often overlooked in emergency responses and the growing challenges of climate change.

Our work in Bangladesh

Together with our local partners, we:

  • Provide emergency relief and support to people with disabilities and making emergency preparedness systems more inclusive.
  • Support people with disabilities with skills, training, and equipment to earn a living.
  • Improve access to mental health support and treatment.
  • Increase access to assistive devices for people with disabilities.
  • Challenge stigma and discrimination against people with disabilities.

Support our work in Bangladesh

Your generous donation to our charity can make a world of difference to people living with disabilities in Bangladesh. With your support, we can help people with disabilities access healthcare, education, and employment, so they can thrive and enjoy their rights. Together, we can build a more inclusive future.

Donations from individuals, companies, charitable trusts and foundations, and legacy gifts are vital in funding our programmes. We also work closely with governments, institutions, and development organisations to strengthen healthcare systems, improve disability inclusion, and drive lasting change.

By donating today, you can help build a more inclusive Bangladesh where no one is left behind.
