Children’s book author donates proceeds to CBM
Author Debi Schofield is donating part of the proceeds from her new book to help transform lives in the world’s poorest places.
Published in May, ‘Tommy and the Golden Apple’ is Debi’s first children’s short story and can be purchased from Amazon, Waterstones and Barnes & Nobel.
Debi, who works part time in a school, believes that every child should get the chance to read. That’s why she would like the proceeds to go towards providing sight-saving operations for children who are living needlessly blind from conditions like cataracts that can easily be treated.
She explains:
“I chose CBM because I think helping people get their sight back through a simple operation is such a fundamental human right and one a lot of us don’t even think about. The book’s central message is for us to be grateful for what we have and I’m hoping to convey that message to children so they can learn from an early age the value of simple things. And If I can help them in any way improve their reading and writing in their learning journey then I know I have achieved something worthwhile.”
